11 FebHappy New Year Everyone, both Western and Chinese!

Since my last posting, I have been getting used to life at FHMSS and getting to know all my students. I have a lot of names to learn and I am not good at remembering, but I am doing my best! I am very happy to discover that FHMSS students are for the most part really lovely to teach. I have been very impressed with the English-speaking ability of some students, who speak really very well. However, what is most important is students’ willingness to ‘have a go’ and try their best. Luckily for me, FHMSS students do just this.

At Christmas, I went back to London to enjoy the festivities with my husband and family. We had a very quiet time as my husband’s mother is 99 years old, but as most of you know as you have seen her picture, she is still very active. Over this last Lunar New Year holiday, I went briefly to London, but spent most of the time in Cyprus, where it was a bit warmer than London – but not by much! Cyprus was having a cold winter and the ski resort on Mount Olympus was very happy as there was snow on the mountains finally. It doesn’t always snow.
